New River Wear Crossing Pylon Arrives - Video Footage
New River Wear Crossing Pylon Arrives - Video Footage.
Here are some videos that show the new Sunderland bridge main pylon or A-frame being shipped carefully up the River Wear.
Anyone who remembers those big ships being escorted to the sea from Austin and Pickersgill will know how tight things were.
These images show something similar - a very careful operation indeed!
If you have any others please show them here.

Very good!
I was going to post something about the pylon coming but was waiting for a precise time of arrival.
Here's a link to why the A-frame was delayed.
I am sure this new Sunderland bridge will be good for the area once it is up and running.

Thanks for those videos.
Nice to see the operation taking place.
I haven't been too annoyed at the roadworks apart from the bit at Pallion.
I am sure this new Sunderland bridge together with the new dual carriageway will go down well with everyone in the area.

Excellent videos.
I can't wait to see a time lapse video of the actual bridge going up.
Now that video will be a sight to see.
The new River Wear bridge crossing is going to be brilliant for Sunderland.
