Tipping For Services In The Area

Post by Rat Scabies »

Around once a week I get a taxi and the fare costs around £4.40 or £4.50. Each time I give a fiver and tell the driver to keep the change.
Lately, because of my circumstances, I have been getting a fast food delivery once or twice a week and have been tipping the driver 50p.
My mate who also lives in Sunderland says he always tips a quid for things like this.
But, loads of others I know say they never tip anyone.
So, I ask the people on the Sunderland Forum, do you tip for services and if so, how much?
Do I continue to tip for services like this or should I stop or even increase my tips?
I am asking because I have only started to use taxis and pizza shops relatively recently.

Nothing wrong with a 50p tip when there is no requirement to do so.

I tip if I feel like it and round up to the nearest pound but sometimes I have been known to tip a quid :P

Sometimes I give a tip, sometimes I don't, it depends on circumstances I suppose.

What was that you said again?

I never go as far as a quid
However, I might round up to the nearest pound, nobody can complain if you do.

^ This, give them at least 75p
I haven't tipped anyone for over a year and it was about 60p I think.

Trouble is that money is tight at the minute for everyone. I suspect you are just having a little joke there ;)

I remember once tipping the removal firm lads a tenner about 30 years ago.
I try and tip about £1.00 where I can but always round up as well so I could tip up to £1.90.
Mind you, I don't use too many services nowadays.
