Sunderland Loses City of Culture Bid 2021
The results came in at the end of the BBC's One Show about 7:30pm tonight.
Sunderland done all it could to get the title but it wasn't to be this time around.
We were one of five cities shortlisted, the others were; Paisley, Stoke, Coventry and Swansea.
The judges in their wisdom gave the City of Culture 2021 to Coventry.
It was a bitter blow to Sunderland who really couldn't do any more in its attempt.
The city gave its all and prepared well enough but its a case of better luck next time.

Not nice for the city, but the Sunderland is still on the up.
Together with the new bridge and the City Centre being rejuvenated, there will be other opportunities to sell the city.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. There will be quite a few unhappy people today but its not the end of the world. Lets move on and get the city back on track in other ways. The lads can help start things off.

Sunderland can apply again for the 2025 City of Culture so its not the end of the world. By then I expect much more of the city to be developed. The new bridge or Northern Spire will help with this in its own way.

It's not the end of the world for Sunderland.
I am sure behind the scenes, those in charge are bitterly disappointed but there will be another opportunity to show off our great city.
